CIRCULAR TO PARENTS – AUGUST 2013

SUBJECT                    :  CIRCULAR TO PARENTS – AUGUST 2013

 

1.      Third Term Holidays and Occasional Holidays

The Third Term Holidays will start earlier, starting on Saturday, 3rd August, 2013 until Sunday, 18th August, 2013. The School will reopen on Monday, 19th August. The School is taking Monday, 5th August and Tuesday, 6th August off as the 3rd and 4th Occasional Holidays, just before Third Term Holiday begins on Wednesday, 7th August, and the Hari Raya Puasa Holidays, on 8th and 9th August. This is to provide a continuous break for the students and teachers. There will be no ECA and Chinese Tuition on Saturday, 3rd August.

 

2.      Change in Times in daily time-table for Lodge National Secondary School

Effective 1st August the adjustments in time and activities for all classes shall be as follows:

i.    All ECA periods shall be replaced by normal classes on Tuesdays and Fridays. This is to enable the students to concentrate on their lessons.

ii.   On Tuesdays all lessons before lunch (12.30 – 1.00 pm) shall be 45 minutes and all those after lunch shall be 40 minutes. Dismissal is at 3.50 pm.

iii. On Fridays all lessons before lunch shall be 45 minutes, and all those after lunch shall be 35 minutes. Dismissal time is at 3.45 pm.

 

3.      Parents in the National School canteen during/after lunch:

It is noted that many parents/guardians are accompanying their children at lunch at the National School canteen. Please note that the canteen is a place for students to have lunch. As such, starting 1st September, 2013 parents of students in Primary 4, 5 and 6 are no longer allowed at the canteen at lunch time (11.50 – 12.30 pm) after sending the food. The parents of other children (Primary 1 to 3) who are present are also required to vacate the seats for the students. Your understanding and co-operation in this matter is sought and highly appreciated.

 

4.      School Landscaping and Beautification:

The National Primary and Secondary Schools are participating in the Landscaping and Beautification Competition organized by the Kuching City South Council (MBKS), which started in early July, 2013.  Parents are invited to donate flowers and potted plants or other items which can be used to beautify the School’s compound. Please send your donations personally or through your children to En. Jaya (Jaga) at the School office. Your support is highly appreciated.

 

 

 

 

5.      Kindy Concert “The Greatest Love” will be organized and held on Saturday, 7th September, 2013, at 7.00 pm. at the School Hall. Interesting items will be staged by the Kindy kids. Please give your support.

 

6.      Support from parents for school activities

In recent weeks Lodge Group of schools has organized various activities. These include the Swimming Gala, An Evening With the Stars, and A Day of Love by Form 4 students. There were other sporting events and academic-oriented competitions which our students had participated in. The School would like to thank all parents for your strong support for all these activities.

 

7.      Trial Examinations:

Please note that the ongoing/coming Trial Exams are as follows:

UPSR: 24.07.13 – 26.07.13

PMR:  26.8.13 – 29.08.13

SPM:  10.09.13 – 20.09.13

IGCSE/AS Level: 10.09.13 – 20.09.13

 

As our students are sitting for these examinations, and are required to perform well in them, parents are kindly reminded to monitor your children’s activities and ensure that they study for at least 2-3 hours at night. Good results in the Trial Exams will provide them the necessary confidence to face the Public Examinations later.

 

8.      SPM 2013

Reports from teachers indicate that 2013 will be a very challenging year for our students. Our teachers are pushing them including having extra classes for them on Saturdays. Many students are also given special remedial work, closely monitored by the teachers. The School wishes to remind parents that Lodge’s academic excellence at all levels must continue. Therefore students must be assisted and closely monitored so that this legacy can be maintained. Please continue to help the School to help your children.
